New stadium: Tottenham would crown return to White Hart Lane with super striker signing

Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are keen to build on another top-four finish in the Premier League with the transfer window now officially open for the summer.

Our punters are hoping owner Daniel Levy will back Mauricio Pochettino in the transfer market so that Spurs can challenge Manchester City for the Premier League next season. With Champions League football guaranteed, the Lilywhites must decide whether to abandon their current transfer model and pay the big wages to attract the best players. With a new stadium on the way, now is the time for Tottenham to take advantage.

Spurs are surely set to be in the market for a new striker yet again to lessen the scoring burden on Harry Kane’s shoulders. Vincent Janssen proved to be a terrible signing, and Fernando Llorente hasn’t fared much better. With that in mind, if reports in Italian publication Tuttosport are to be believed, Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain could be set for an exit.

Valued at £63m by Transfermarkt, the Argentine forward has netted 16 goals in 35 appearances in the Serie A this season, including five goals in the Champions League. The ex-Real Madrid striker would be an excellent signing for the Lilywhites. A world-class finisher, the 30-year-old would be a perfect strike partner for Kane.

Tottenham would have two superb options up front that could fire them up the Premier League table and to European glory.
