Newcastle captain wants to leave for Argentina

Newcastle fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have been left shell-shocked after opening up a screwed up copy of yesterday’s Daily Mail revealing the news that captain Fabricio Coloccini wants to leave the club immediately due to personal reasons.

The 30-year-old is yet to hand in a transfer request, but a crisis in his personal circumstances means he feels he has to return to Argentina.

Colocinni joined the Magpies from Deportivo La Coruna in 2008 for £10.3 million and during his four years with the club he has emerged as their rock at the back and leader on the field.

The news will be a shattering blow for Alan Pardew who has already had to cope with a defensive injury crisis which has left his side struggling in the Premier League while also selling his best striker, Demba Ba, to Chelsea last week.

Although Colocinni has only played 18 times this term due to a hamstring injury, he has still been their best defender and his loss would be huge for the St. James’ Park-based club.

Newcastle still have hope of changing his decision to leave and will do all they can to try and persuade him to stay at the club but given his issues off the field, today’s game against Norwich City may be the last time we see Coloccini in the famous black and white jersey.
