Newcastle United fans here in the Tavern are desperate for their side to continue on their fine run of form, having gone their last three Premier League matches unbeaten.
Rafa Benitez will be extremely pleased with how side has performed in recent weeks, as relegation worries look to be a thing of the past with a mid-table finish now in sight. And, it looks as if they’ve turned their attention to the summer transfer window, as according to the Mail Online, Newcastle are preparing to snatch Joel Asoro and Josh Maja from Sunderland.
Indeed, it’s understood that the Magpies have sent scouts to check on Sunderland pair Joel Asoro and Josh Maja amid uncertainty over their future.
Newcastle are believed to have watched the duo in recent months with scouts being sent out to the Stadium of Light to return reports, as it’s thought that they are better than the forwards currently at St James’ Park of a similar age.
Interestingly, both players are out of contract next summer and their current club Sunderland have offered them both new long-term contracts, but with the Black cats on the verge of relegation to League One, a move away in the summer may be in the offing.
Of course, both players would be good signings for the club as they continue to prepare for a successful future, but many of our local residents feel that they should be looking at players for the present. Nevertheless, it looks as if the Magpies may be able to lure the pair away in the summer transfer window, as Sunderland edge closer towards relegation to League One.
