The Newcastle United fans are gathered around the TV in The Transfer Tavern discussing reports regarding their managers future at the club.
The Chronicle is reporting that the club have denied that they are close to sacking current head coach Steve McClaren, despite reports yesterday suggesting that he would not be the club’s manager for Monday’s game against league leaders Leicester City.
McClaren has won just six of his 28 games in charge on Tyneside which sees the club perilously close to losing their Premier League status.
Specualation regarding McClaren’s future has gathered pace over the last 24 hours with reports that the club have held talks with former Liverpool and Real Madrid manager Rafael Benitez about taking over at the club.
McClaren has stayed fully professional throughout the speculation regarding his future and is still taking training with squad.
If Newcastle do decide eventually decide to part company with McClaren they will have have to negotiate a compensation package with the former England manager whose contract runs until 2018.
The Newcastle fans are well and truly fed up with the length of time it is taking to make a decision over McClaren’s future and think that it will be detrimental to the club’s Premier League future the longer a decision takes to be made.
