Newcastle determined to keep high-profile manager even if relegated

BenitezThe Newcastle fans gather round the pool table in the Transfer Tavern as word has spread that Newcastle will attempt to keep Benitez no matter what happens this season.

Luke Edwards of The Telegraph tells The Toon fans that Newcastle ambassador Bob Moncur has asked Benitez to publicly announce his long term future at the club. This is even if Newcastle get relegated to the championship.

While the thought of Benitez playing against Bristol and Huddersfield sound absurd, apparently Newcastle are confident they can keep Benitez though this rebuilding stage of the club.

Newcastle believe that the bond the ex-Madrid manager has developed with the fans may be enough for him to go down to the second division of English football with the club.

However, Rafa does have a clause in his contract which states that if Newcastle do get relegated then he can quit his role.

Along with that Benitez, is not willing to promise anything at this stage over his future. So while he isn’t ruling out managing a championship Newcastle he certainly isn’t keen with the idea.

Newcastle fans…. Will Newcastle stay up? Will Benitez stay with Newcastle if they go down? Comment below with your opinions!
