The Newcastle fans in the Transfer Tavern are feeling very optimistic about their promotion hopes this season…
Under Rafa Benitez, the Magpies are on a roll. They are currently sat at the top of the Premier League, and in truth – promotion to the Premier League looks, at this point, guaranteed.
Always the perfectionist, however, Rafa Benitez is seemingly not yet convinced that his side is a lock-in for Championship supremacy – and he appears keen on adding some Premier League experience to his side.
According to the Sun, Newcastle are reportedly keen on Hull midfielder Robert Snodgrass – who looks set to leave the Premier League side.
The winger is out of contract at the end of the season, and the Sun are reporting that Newcastle are eyeing a £5 million move for him.
The news has pleased the Newcastle fans in the Transfer Tavern, many of whom have already got one eye on Premier League survival next season. Whilst that might be jumping the gun somewhat, there is no doubting that Snodgrass would be a valuable asset not only for Newcastle’s promotion push – but also their quest to remain in the Premier League for the foreseeable future.
Since arriving at Hull in 2014, Snodgrass has established himself as a key member of their first team – having picked up 21 Premier League starts last season. At 29-years-old, he would not be a long-term solution, but he would certainly be a good option for Benitez as he looked to continue growing his side.
