Newcastle fans are so right: Mike Ashley won’t sign Sebastien Haller in January

Newcastle United finally managed to record their first victory of the season when they defeated Watford in their Premier League encounter last weekend.

The win meant that Rafa Benitez’s side have lifted themselves out of the bottom three and will go into their match against Bournemouth with some much-needed momentum and confidence.

The Magpies’ goal came when Ayoze Perez managed to flick the ball with his head from a Ki Sung-yueng free-kick, although the goals for the Tyneside outfit have not been flying in.

The club have managed to record just seven goals so far this season and there have been suggestions that Benitez will look to the transfer market to bring a new striker into the fold, despite having added Salomon Rondon in the summer.

And, according to reports, Sebastien Haller has been heavily linked with a move to St James’ Park, but a number of Newcastle fans are not convinced of a move on Twitter.

And, you would have to consider that they are absolutely right to have the feeling that they will not get a deal done for the Frenchman.

According to FAZ, the 24-year-old is thought to have a price tag between the €20-30million mark, which would make him the club’s record transfer by some distance.

History has shown that Mike Ashley is not willing to spend vast amounts of money on one player, with Michael Owen still the record signing at £22.5m, per Transfermarkt, with Georginio Wijnaldum his most expensive to date.

In fact, the current owner has paid more than £10m for a signing on seven occasions in the 23 transfer windows he has overseen at the club, per The Mag.

Newcastle definitely need a striker that can score goals on a regular basis and will help to guide them away from relegation.

However, with Haller likely to cost way more than Ashley is normally prepared to spend, it would appear the Newcastle fans are right in not expecting it to happen.
