This transfer window has Mike Ashley written all over it as far as Newcastle fans are concerned. The Sports Direct owner promised Rafa Benitez that he would have adequate transfer funds this summer although the fans are yet to see that money. Today, Lee Ryder of The Chronicle has claimed that the club are looking to activate a £3 million release clause in Fabian Schar’s contract.
Schar has a £3million release clause in his contract which #nufc are looking to activate.

The 26-year-old centre-back was tipped to go and be a big player in European football during his Basel days. The Swiss defender currently plays his football for Deportivo La Coruna but after the Spanish outfit were relegated last season it looks like Schar will be moving on. Meanwhile, Newcastle United are nearing the sale of Chancel Mbemba to Porto and Schar would be a cheap replacement for the Congolese centre-back.
It’s looking like Mbemba will be bringing in around £10 million for The Magpies, a tidy sum for the club. Whilst most fans would be hoping that money will be reinvested into the club, the majority of The Geordies are resigned to the fact that any money will probably be going into Mike Ashley’s large pockets. That’s been the case with Mikel Merino already this summer and it looks like the fans are going to have to just suck it up and understand that this summer will be just like the rest.

Looking to activate?? Surely a club just activates it??? We will off £2.95 million no doubt

We have to watch out tho… A League 2 club might snatch him, offering better wages…

Bet that's too expensive for Ashley. Offer 2 million and some sports direct vouchers

It’s clear to see that there’s little faith among the supporters that this window will be a failure, just like previous years have been.
