Newcastle fans hate the idea of Brendan Rodgers replacing Rafa Benitez

There’s no doubting that Brendan Rodgers has done a superb job at Parkhead. The Northern Irishman has been sublime in his role at Celtic but for The Chronicle to tip him as the next boss at St James Park is a little overboard, and the fans aren’t happy with it.

Rodgers’ double-treble win with Celtic was a moment in history for The Bhoys in Green, but that doesn’t mean he’d be a great fit at Newcastle. The ex-Liverpool and Swansea man did well during his time in England, getting The Swans promoted and getting so close to winning Liverpool’s first ever Premier League title. However, the way he left England would make it hard for any English club to appoint him without receiving a bit of stick.

Meanwhile, the Geordies don’t even want a new manager. If there’s one change they could make it would be to the club’s ownership as they’d love to see Mike Ashley forced out, but they’d never actively campaign to see Rafa Benitez walk. The Spaniard has worked wonders on Tyneside, getting them promoted from the Championship and then achieving a 10th placed Premier League finish in his first two full seasons.

The fans can’t believe some of the stuff they read about their club and will be keen for the Rodgers’ rumours to be put to bed as soon as possible.
