You know a situation at a football club is bad when some of the fans are considering boycotting fixtures. That’s exactly what’s happening at Newcastle United, though, as Mike Ashley tightens his stranglehold on the club and continues to restrict the cash flow at the club, keeping Rafa Benitez begging for pennies to wheel and deal with.
Season tickets holders, will you be boycotting the first game of the season?

Newcastle have secured the signing of five new players this summer and that’s been a very good return for Rafa Benitez who has had so little backing from Mike Ashley over the last few months. It’s fair to say the Magpies are still a few players short of where they want to be and after two very successful seasons with Benitez at the helm, you’d think now would be a brilliant time to invest, unfortunately, that hasn’t happened.
Ashley is full of empty promises and the fans are all starting to realise how naive they were when they believed that he would be giving Rafa “every penny the club generates”. Things have gotten so bad that some season ticket holders are considering boycotting their opening game at home to Spurs. It’s unlikely that the boycott will go ahead seeing as the Geordies have got some of the best fans in the world and the football will always come first, but the fact that it’s come to this is shocking for the club and all associated with it.
You can read the Magpies’ verdict on the boycott here:
I really can't see the point of boycotting. He has already got our money and he won't even be there….not that he gives a toss. The only people who this would impact is the team and Rafa. We know rafa is having a tough time. Think we should support him and team.

47% up to now stating they are not going, why?
Does that help the team?
Does it make a difference financially to MA?
No point in not attending in my opinion…..#NUFC

Fans who boycott after buying their season tickets have to be the thickest going. Line Ashley’s pockets then don’t go no wonder he keeps on us from a great height.

What’s the point! He has the money! Need to get behind the team!

No simply because Ashley already has my money.

If Rafa wants us there helping to get the best out of the team then I’ll be there.

Newcastle fans are stuck between a rock and a hard place here. They’re desperate to show resistance against Ashley but are desperate to show support for Rafa and the team.
