Newcastle United earned their first Premier League win of the season after they saw off Watford in 1-0 victory at St. James’ Park on Saturday.
Manager Rafael Benitez will now be hoping his side can really kick on after such a disappointing start to the campaign, and one man the Spaniard will certainly be looking to to make a difference on the pitch is £4.5m-rated (via Transfermarkt) midfielder Mohamed Diame.
The 31-year-old played a huge part in Newcastle’s recent promotion back to the Premier League and their 10th place finish last term and is now on course to winning an extension to his contract based on an appearance agreement, according to the Evening Chronicle.
Like most of his team-mates this season, Diame’s performances have not been up to scratch, but the former Hull City man has the ability to turn things around.
Have a look at what Newcastle supporters are saying about Diame’s future below…
seriously , he's bloody hopeless.
