The sweat is now on for Newcastle fans. Ayoze Perez went off injured yesterday against Brighton despite scoring the game’s opening goal in terrific fashion. The Spaniard had a hip problem as he hobbled off just after the half an hour mark, and the Magpies are desperate for him to return in time for Liverpool on Saturday.
Strange match: another goal, not the best result and some pain in my hip… time to rest and recover because next weekend we have a important date at home! pic.twitter.com/VEw4lab5GE

Perez has been in electric form as of late. The Spanish striker is 4th on the list of Premier League goalscorers in the calendar year for 2019, with only Jamie Vardy, Sadio Mane and Sergio Aguero being able to better his tally of nine goals since the turn of the year. Five of those nine have come in his last three games, and the fans will be desperate for him to add to that next weekend.
The Geordies may have a Liverpool hero in charge in the form of Rafa Benitez, but they want nothing more than to see the Reds crumble in the title race by beating them, and Ayoze Perez will be so key to any win if they are to get one. However, first, he must pass fit, and having seen the distress the 26-year-old was in after scoring the opener it could be touch and go whether or not he makes the start.

What a hit though. Hope all well for the last home game

The Geordies are desperate to have Ayoze back in action sooner rather than later and will hope the Spaniard can make it for Liverpool and put the Reds to the sword.
