Newcastle fans just cannot seem to catch a break at the moment. The Magpies have been left in an awful position, fighting relegation with no incomings or transfer funds. So for them to be given the news that they could have had Mo Salah back in 2011 yet Mike Ashley failed to pay the £500,000 fee is just another kick in the teeth.
In a new biography about Mohamed Salah, it has been revealed #NUFC could have signed him in 2011 for £500k…
'Pardew thought the Salah deal was done, but it ended up collapsing with the club unwilling to fork out the £500,000 fee for a one-year loan.'https://t.co/xRi7KNyEX7

This story of their failed move for Mo Salah comes from The Daily Star and it claims that whilst Salah was turning out for Egyptian club Arab Pro Contractors he was almost snapped by the Geordies for just half a million on-loan, a deal that would have led to a permanent transfer, however, Mike Ashley failed to fork out the meagre £500,000 despite Alan Pardew believes that the deal was done.
That deal fell through back in 2011, just three years before he made his move to Basel and six years before he made his life-changing move to Liverpool. Imagining Salah in this Newcastle side is hard to do. The 26-year-old has been a phenomenon at Anfield, scoring 63 goals in 83 games, and the Geordies would kill for a player who scores goals at half the rate of the classy Egyptian, yet instead, they had to settle for Gabriel Obertan in that fateful 2011 window.

And the list of deals that they have been unable to get over the line continues.

Aye, him and Luca Modric regularly text each other laughing emojis about us.#nufc

We went for Gabriel Obertan instead. Didn’t think it could get more depressing than Ignacio Gonzalez over Luka Modric

We’ve had some good scouts but the owner poisons the club by being petty over small fees

The Geordies hate the idea that they could have been so successful and signed stars had Ashley not been such a poisonous owner and they’ll all be celebrating when he’s finally gone.Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
