Newcastle fans on Twitter enraged by squad deficiencies

Newcastle United are a team in trouble. The Magpies will be staring down the barrel of relegation if they can’t call in some reinforcements this month, especially considering that their squad is down to its bare bones and they’ve won just two of their eleven home games in the Premier League this season.
Diame has gone off injured, Fernandez injured, Ki away with South Korea and now Yedlin hobbling at the end.
When assessing tonight, don't forget: this squad is down to the bare bones.

Whilst losing at home to Manchester United is nothing to be ashamed of anymore, given Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s impact at the Red Devils. However, the fact that they lost Mo Diame and DeAndre Yedlin to injury, putting them alongside Federico Fernandez in the treatment room, as well as the fact that Ki Sun-Yeung is away with South Korea means that the already thin squad is looking in a lot of trouble.
Whether Newcastle have 18 fit players or 25, though, the chances of Mike Ashley spending some money this month look slim to none. The Magpies are running out of hope and if things don’t turn around quickly then they’ll be back in the Championship before they know it. So far this season, Rafa Benitez’s side have picked up just 19 points, and have of those came in a November run where they won three games on the bounce.
You can read the Magpies’ verdict on their situation here:
It's difficult to watch, the players generally give what they have. It's just not enough. The squad lacks quality, creativity and any depth whatsoever. When teams can bring on single sub that cost 1.5x our team value it's always gonna be tough. #NUFC

This tweet just makes me hate Mike Ashley even more than I already do

I don’t think anyone would really blame the players tonight. The problem, as it has been for a decade, is the complete lack of investment that’s lead to us being down to the bare bones.

At full strength the squad is bare bones. We only have about 2 good players and they’re not very good.

The Geordies hate the way their club is being run and the state of their squad at the moment, yet they still have no faith in any action being taken.
