Newcastle fans on Twitter fume over club’s lack of transfer action

To be a Newcastle fan during a transfer window is tough. The fans have so far had to put up with not a lot of spending whilst their rivals continue to strengthen in the transfer market. Rafa Benitez was promised transfer funds at the start of the window and so far it seems that promise has not been kept.

The summer so far has seen Newcastle sign Martin Dubravka for £4 million, Ki Sung-Yeung on a free and Kenedy on-loan from Chelsea, meaning their total spending has been just £4 million. Factor in that Mikel Merino has been sold for £10 million and you can understand why the fans aren’t happy as Mike Ashley sits on a tidy profit of £6 million whilst the fans are left begging for new signings.

The club has been linked with a number of players. Michail Antonio, Andros Townsend, Danny Ings and Salomon Rondon are all names floating about but it doesn’t appear that the Magpies are close to securing any of those and it’s easy to see why the fans aren’t best pleased with their club. In truth, it should come as no surprise that Ashley is pocketing the club’s money for his own gain, as he’s had the club under his stranglehold for over ten years now.

You can see what the Geordies make of Ashley and their club’s business here:

Just from the handful of tweets above, it’s clear to see that the fans aren’t optimistic as long as Mike Ashley is still there.
