Newcastle fans have very little faith when it comes to transfer windows. Unless the rumours are around star players being sold, there’s never much weight behind the rumours as far as the fans are concerned. That means that this latest rumour from Alan Nixon that The Magpies are eyeing a January swoop for Miguel Almiron has gone down poorly with the fans.

Almiron is something of a breakout star in the MLS at the moment. The 24-year-old Paraguayan star has racked up 13 caps for his country and whilst he’s yet to score internationally, his hit rate in the MLS is superb as he’s bagged himself 12 goals and 13 assists from 33 games in the 2018 season, despite the fact he plays predominantly as an attacking midfielder for Atlanta United.
Newcastle aren’t the only club in for Almiron, and if the Magpies weren’t confident of signing him before then they won’t be now, as GOAL.com published a story back in mid-October detailing Almiron as Arsenal’s Ozil replacement as the Gunners have also shown an interest in the MLS star. As far as the Geordies know, this is just another transfer rumour that will remain as just that, as they have little to no faith in Mike Ashley signing anyone in January, let alone competing with Arsenal for the next Ozil.
You can read The Magpies’ responses to the Almiron rumours here:
Anyone with any sort of decent career will not want to join. Can only imagine how far behind we'll be by January

The Newcastle fans are far from confident about signing anyone in January and some of them are already resigned to the fact that they’ll be relegated given the way they’ve started the season.
