According to Football-Oranje, Newcastle United are set to compete for the signing of Nicolas Tagliafico from Ajax with Arsenal in the upcoming January window. However, The Magpies have little faith in this being a deal that goes through anytime soon.

The Geordies tend to have little faith in any deal going through that isn’t a loan or a transfer costing less than £5 million. The fans are at the point where they’re already resigned to being relegated before November and they know that not even Rafa Benitez can save them in January, purely because of the lack of investment and resources that are made available to him by Mike Ashley.
If Ashley does make some funds available and allows Rafa to get some of his targets in the summer then they’ll have a chance of avoiding the drop, but even then it’s unlikely that the club will sign Tagliafigo from Ajax given his performances in the Champions League and World Cup this year and the fact that Unai Emery has earmarked him as an Arsenal target for the upcoming window.

Looking forward to seeing how he does for Arsenal.

We could face competition from Stevenage and still miss out.

Why would anyone sign for NUFC now? Championship football awaits thanks to Mike Ashley. Unbelievable naivety from the owner.

The Geordies have no faith in signing Tagliafico and will hope the club can get at least their second or third choice left-back in January.
