Newcastle secured their second point of the season yesterday when they drew 0-0 away at Crystal Palace. It was the club’s second 0-0 of the season meaning that their four goals this season have all been scored in vain, meanwhile, Aleksandar Mitrovic has got five for Fulham already since he moved from St James Park, and the fans are trying to move on from the Serbian.

If Newcastle had the goals of Mitrovic at the moment then it’s likely they’d have been able to overcome one of Tottenham, Chelsea, Arsenal or Manchester City, who the Magpies all lost 2-1 too in their five opening fixtures. However, Rafa Benitez deemed the striker surplus to requirements at St James Park and it looks like the fans will just have to live with it and move on as he continues to bang in shed-loads of goals at Craven Cottage.
The ex-Anderlecht man is the Premier League’s joint top goalscorer with Eden Hazard with five goals in six games, although Hazard has a chance to overtake him against West Ham today. That figure of five goals is significant because it’s over half of the nine that the striker managed in his only full season in the top-flight with Newcastle back in the 2015/16 season when the Geordies were relegated. It looks like the fans are just trying to move on and whilst they’re gutted Mitrovic didn’t work out, they’ll be keen to see new-man Salomon Rondon banging in the goals soon.

The sooner the Newcastle fans move on from Mitrovic the better, but it’s always hard to ignore the what-ifs considering the way both Newcastle and Mitrovic have started the season.
