Newcastle fans can have no real complaints after their famous comeback win yesterday can they? However, when the score 2-0 to the travelling side as the half-time whistle had been blown, with Matt Ritchie missing a penalty just to make things worse, the Magpies were absolutely livid at their side and the referee.

Despite the fact that the Geordies had been given a penalty at St James Park and missed it, the fans were fuming at the referee. They all believed that Jordan Pickford should have seen red for his, rather timely considering the on-going six nations, rugby tackle on Salomon Rondon, yet he was only given a ticking off from referee Lee Mason, sending the home fans into a rage.
As it was, the Geordies had little to complain about just an hour after the half-time whistle had been blown. St James Park would have been a toxic place at half-time as fans angrily got their pies and beers, yet the second 45 minutes cam around and the fans had a great time, scoring three goals and taking him three points, although that doesn’t change the fact they were fuming after 45.

Decisions by the ref are shocking. Pickford should have been sent off.

Why do Referees hate us so much! Never get proper calls. Granted Ritchie should’ve converted

Lee Mason could just as well had worn his Everton jersey, utter rubbish refereeing! Can we ask for the ref to be substituted at half time…?

The Magpies’ may have loved their second-half display, and they’re delighted that it came after the diabolical opening 45 minutes they had to sit through.
