This Christmas has been a desperately grim one for the Magpies. The fans were so full of optimism when Mike Ashley appeared on television and claimed he would be selling the club, but since then, things have gotten worse and now a takeover looks dead in the water and January spending is as unlikely as a win away at Anfield.
85' – GOAL – Liverpool 4 (Fabinho) Newcastle United 0 #NUFC

Everything went wrong for the Magpies yesterday. The lineup was off, Rafa Benitez turned up to do nothing but sit behind the ball at Anfield and individual errors, a dive and poor performances all round saw the travelling Newcastle fan endure one of the worst Boxing Dau results of recent memory for the Northeast club, and things don’t look set to get any better.
The Geordies have resigned themselves to the fact that if they finish 17th this season then it’s a job well done, and the fact that the January window is right around the corner is just depressing. It will be no surprise at all is Benitez is given nothing to spend in the window, and with both Yoshinori Muto and KI Sung-Yeung leaving the club for the month to play in the Asian Cup, things will only get worst at Newcastle from here.
You can see what the Geordies had to say when Fabinho fired in number four here:
Good job other results are going our way like. Still though on target for Mikes lofty ambition of 17th #sellupandgo

It’s a good thing we set up to defend

Negative tactics bring negative results, we go to big matches with a losing mentality, as fans even if we lose 4-0 with a fight its better, than lose 4-0 without a fight. Great debut to Longstaff. HWTL

Board don’t want to spend.
Manager don’t want to have a go at attacking teams.
The place has become a joke.

When the opposition bring on a player who cost more than you're entire match day squad, you know you are gonna be in for a tough day. Especially when your opponents haven't lost all season. First time we've been properly hammered this season.

Rafa has squeezed as much out of these useless players as he possibly can, for his own sake he should leave!

The Magpies are in a dark place at the moment, and it’s hard to see a way out for them under Mike Ashley.Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
