A lot of Newcastle fans have been losing faith in the transfer window as it seems like their club won’t be signing anyone of note this summer. However, according to TalkSPORT, the Magpies could be set to make a move for Cruzeiro’s Giorgian De Arrascaeta as the 16-cap Uruguayan international wants to try his hand in European football.
#NUFC & Celtic are monitoring Uruguay’s Giorgian De Arrascaeta. He played twice for his country in their march to the WC quarter-finals & is believed to be keen to try test himself in Europe, having spent his career in South America so far. He's valued at £18M. [Talksport]

The 24-year-old played twice for his country in their march to the quarter-finals in Russia, starting against Egypt and coming off the bench against the host nation, despite the fact that he doesn’t suit the South American nation’s rigid 4-4-2 set-up. What he would suit, though, would be a move to St James Park. The Magpies are interesting in him but could have to fight Scottish Premier League champions, Celtic for his signature.
It’s reported that he’s valued at around £18 million, although, his Transfermarkt valuation is just under half that at £8.1 million. If the club did fork out and sign De Arrascaeta it would be a very uncharacteristic move from the club. Usually, Newcastle only signs players from Europe and even then they refuse to pay out more than £10 million most of the time. The club’s record transfer fee they’ve paid for a player still stands at just £16 million, which they forked out for Michael Owen way back in 2005 and it’s time they broke that to improve their current squad.

So glad we are just monitoring players with less than a month left of the window. Who wants to get stuff done early.

Sounds like a drug lord. Get it done.

Could that be the signing to allow Hayden to leave. Benitez would need to find a player who can play defensive midfield, centre back and right back if he was to sign!Would be unbelievable boost if correct and Benitez has been unusually calm about the situation ACTION NOW

I can feel a 11 million pound bid coming on

Whilst the supporters would love to get this one over the line, it really doesn’t look likely that Ashley and co will sanction a move for such an unheard-of player.
