Newcastle United fans in the Transfer Tavern will be looking ahead to the summer as the club confirmed their place in the Premier League for another season.
The Magpies were beaten by Watford at the weekend, however, the club will be looking to solidify their place in the top-ten which would be an impressive campaign for their first season back.
Rafa Benitez had managed a masterclass to ensure the Toon Army will be remaining and a number of locals in the bar will be calling for the board to extend his current deal, something the Spaniard is desperate to do himself.
However, according to a report in the Telegraph, the punters could be facing an anxious summer after the manager revealed that talks have not progressed, confirming that it was “more or less the same situation”.
Benitez has already told the board his demands and the assurances he wants should he remain at St. James’ Park, with the locals calling for the board to deliver before it is too late, with interest in the manager from other top teams in Europe.
The Newcastle fans will be disappointed to have heard that talks between Benitez and the club’s hierarchy have appeared to have stalled and will be hoping positive discussions can happen sooner rather than later.
