Newcastle fans take to Twitter to call for Charlie Austin swoop

Newcastle United are a club in a bit of a shambles. After the fans were led to believe that Romelu Lukaku’s brother, Jordan Lukaku would be joining on-loan, that fell through and they’re now scrambling for signings. According to The Telegraph, though, Charlie Austin is available for a transfer, and the Magpies would love to swoop for the Saints man.

Charlie Austin is a player who certainly knows where the net is in the Premier League. His best goalscoring season came when he was at QPR back in the 2014/15 season where he netted 18 times in England’s top flight. However, other than that electric season his highest goal tally in the Premier League for a single season is just seven, which he managed in the 2017/18 campaign.

If the 29-year-old was to make the move from the south of England to the Northeast, he’d be doing himself plenty of favours. Alongside Salomon Rondon, Austin could really thrive and the fact that his game time has been limited so far this season under Ralph Hasenhuttl means that the player would probably love to move to a ground where he’ll be used a lot more, and game time is one thing Rafa Benitez can offer the hitman.

The Magpies love the idea of signing Austin but they have no faith in bringing him in.
