It’s not very often that teams like Newcastle United, who are battling it out at the wrong end of the table, manage to complete turnarounds like they did yesterday. The Geordies played a blinder to get back into the game yesterday, and with the score at 2-1 to the visitors, supporters were delighted to see Rafa Benitez bring on Jonjo Shelvey.
Jonjo Shelvey spoke to NUFC TV after helping Newcastle United come from two goals down to beat @Everton at St. James’ Park this afternoon.

Shelvey came on at the right time to try and influence the game and that’s exactly what he did. The Magpies looked to their impressive passing-master midfielder in the 79th minute, and just five minutes after the ex-Liverpool and Swansea man’s introduction, Rafa Benitez was celebrating a famous turnaround on the sidelines as a quick-fire Ayoze Perez double turned the game on it’s head.
The Englishmen have not have been able to record an assist for either of Ayoze Perez’s goals, but his positivity in the middle of the park is always a boost for the Geordies and he proved to be a difference maker once again with his eagerness to get the ball down and recycle it, helping his side to go forward and keep the tempo at a level that the home fans had been crying out for as they chased a win.
You can read the Magpies’ thoughts on Shelvey here:
Anyone who thinks Shelvey doesn’t have a place in our midfield is deluded.

Newcastle fans can feel proud of their side, and of the returning Shelvey, given their efforts yesterday and they’ll want more of the same against Bournemouth next time.
