Newcastle ‘growing confident’ in signing Sebastien Haller

Newcastle United will head into the January transfer market with the main aim of adding a striker to their ranks.

The Magpies have struggled to find the back of the net regularly and currently sit at the bottom of the Premier League table alongside Huddersfield Town without a win this season.

Rafa Benitez will need to get things improved rather quickly if they are to have any hope of remaining in the top-flight and has reportedly made a striker his top priority.

According to Scott Wilson, who is the chief sports writer for the Northern Echo, he has written in his column that Sebastien Haller will be the Spaniard’s main target.

The Eintracht Frankfurt striker has been in prolific form this season, having netted seven goals and seven assists so far in the Bundesliga.

Newcastle are thought to have scouted the 24-year-old for a number of years and despite Haller signing a four-year contract when he joined Frankfurt, the Magpies are confident that they can prise him away.

The Verdict:

Haller sounds like the type of player that Newcastle are in desperate need of adding to their squad following his exploits this season.

The Frenchman has shown he can play in the Bundesliga and has certainly become a key player for Frankfurt.

However, despite there being a growing confidence from the Magpies that they believe they can land him, it remains to be seen for how much and whether the German outfit will be prepared to entertain an offer for him.
