Newcastle United fans here in the Tavern are feeling excited about the summer transfer window, as they want their side to bring in at least two world-class players.
The Magpies have been one of the form teams in the Premier League over the past month as they’ve won their last four matches, with relegation worries now a thing of the past for Newcastle United supporters. And, many of our local residents recently received some fantastic news, as according to SunSport, manager Rafa Benitez is keen to stay, but only if they show more ambition.
The Spaniard is keen to stay despite being linked with the Arsenal job, but this will all depend on whether the club can show more ambition, having failed to provide any real support for Benitez throughout his time at St James’ Park.
Sadly, the 58-year-old has stalled over signing a new deal, with just one year remaining on his contract. And, the former Real Madrid manager wants to be challenging for trophies after ensuring the Magpies’ Premier League future is secure.
“I can feel this passion after two successful years here. I know the ambition of the fans, and now I need to know the ideas of the club and whether we share the same ambitions.
“I would like to talk with Ashley as soon as possible, but I want to concentrate on the games at the same time.
“In terms of the club, it is very clear that we have to start talking about ideas for the future. You need to know how much money is available, and then what can you do with that.”
Rafa Benitez is arguably one of the best managers in the whole of world football, so Newcastle United should do everything they possibly can to keep him at the club. Although, with Mike Ashley still searching for a potential buyer, the Spaniard could look to take his managerial career elsewhere if his demands aren’t met.
