Newcastle United will be looking to ensure consistency throughout the next campaign after struggling to meet expectations.
The Magpies have made a couple of moves so far this summer but nothing that particularly catches the eye, as Benitez continues to work hard behind the scenes. And, it looks as if his hard work has finally paid off, as according to Sky Sports, Newcastle are holding talks with West Brom over a possible deal for Salomon Rondon.
Newcastle United are reportedly holding talks today to sign Salomon Rondon for £16 million.
Interestingly, it’s believed that Newcastle chiefs and West Brom chiefs are thrashing out a fee for the South American forward.
Indeed, the Tyneside club are lacking any real depth in attacking areas as they continue to search for a suitable replacement for Aleksandar Mitrovic, who is heading to Craven Cottage.
But, they now appear to be closing in on their man, having been linked with the Venezuelan for large parts of the summer transfer window.
So, it looks as if Rafa Benitez is finally set to splash the cash by spending £16 million on West Brom’s Salomon Rondon, with talks imminent (today).
The Magpies are in desperate need of a striker having seen how disappointing Joselu was over the course of the last campaign, but they finally seem to be edging closer to securing their man.
