Newcastle hope to complete summer sale of outcast for at least £6million – report

Newcastle United could already be set to make transfer movements before the end of the season and fans in the Transfer Tavern will be hoping a deal can get completed.

The Magpies will remain in the Premier League next season after a strong showing during 2018 and Rafa Benitez will be keen on bringing in a number of new additions to help improve on this year’s campaign.

However, one man looks set to depart St James’ Park this summer according to the Newcastle Chronicle, with Matz Sels set to end his nightmare spell at the club. The Belgium international came to the club in 2016 for a fee of £6million, however, things did not work out for him and he has spent the past season on loan at Anderlecht.

The Belgian giants are believed to be ready to complete a permanent deal for the goalkeeper and are said to be keen on agreeing to a price for the 26-year-old, with the Magpies wanting to recoup “at least” the £6 million they paid to bring him to Tyneside.

Sels wanted to make another go of getting a first-team place on Tyneside, however, with Martin Dubravka impressing and potentially going to make his stay permanent, he would find himself further down the pecking order.

Landlord’s Verdict

The Newcastle fans in the Tavern will be keen on making as much as they can from the sale of Sels to Anderlecht, however, they will realise that the club can not always be trusted with transfers, with the proposed loan agreement between the two sides for Aleksandar Mitrovic falling through at the last moment.
