Newcastle identify another Premier League striker as transfer target

GomisA few Newcastle fans have burst through the Transfer Tavern’s doors this morning to hand our landlord some intriguing news concerning their club.

Newcastle United are interested in signing French striker Bafetimbi Gomis from Swansea in a sensational £7million deal, though Swansea will fend off the interest.

Newcastle are looking to bolster their attacking options before the window slams shut tonight at 11pm and Toon boss Steve McClaren has identified Gomis as a player who could fire Newcastle away from the relegation zone of the Premier League.

Gomis has played 23 matches for The Swans so far this season and scored six goals in what has been a poor campaign for the Welsh side so far. Newcastle are thought to be offering a two and half year deal to the 30-year-old Swansea frontman.

Newcastle currently sit in 18th place in the table, two points behind Norwich, and just four behind Swansea. They are hoping to recruit at least one striker today as they want to improve on the 25 goals they have scored so far in The Premier League.

With that our Newcastle fan bolted out the door leaving our landlord to post the news for all Toon fans to see.

Have your say…..Newcastle fans would you like to see Gomis at St James Park? Is £7million too much for Gomis? Who would you like Newcastle to sign today? Drop in and leave your comments below.
