Newcastle interested in Martin Terrier

Rafa Benitez is thought to be keen to bring in a couple of new additions to Newcastle United this January as they look to improve.

The Magpies currently find themselves just above the relegation zone of the Premier League and the Spaniard is keen to strengthen his side with reinforcements.

And, according to a report in France, it appears that one man is on their radar with a possible loan deal being touted.

L’Equipe are claiming Olympique de Lyonnais’ Martin Terrier is thought to be on Benitez’s list of potential targets after having observed the player a number of times.

It is claimed Newcastle have put the idea of a six-month loan deal forward, however, the Ligue One outfit do not appear to be keen on letting the France Under-21 international leave.

The Verdict:

Terrier is an exciting player and has already made some impressive strides since coming through the ranks at Lyon.

The 21-year-old has scored four goals so far this season and is extremely versatile, as he can play out on the wing, in a number 10 role or as a striker.

However, with Lyon not keen on the idea of a loan deal, it would appear that Newcastle could find it difficult to bring him to St. James’ Park.
