Newcastle keen on signing Marcus Thuram in January

Newcastle United are thought to be one of a host of Premier League clubs interested in one of football’s most exciting prospects.

According to a report by TeamTALK, The Magpies are thought to be ready to step up their efforts in trying to sign Marcus Thuram.

Rafa Benitez is believed to be keen on the 21-year-old who has been impressive for Guingamp this season.

The son of Lilian, Marcus has managed to hit 10 goals in his 20 appearances across all competitions so far, making him a really exciting prospect.

Newcastle are not thought to be the only Premier League side thought to be monitoring the Frenchman, with the likes of Arsenal, Brighton and Hove Albion, Cardiff City, Crystal Palace, Watford, Southampton and Everton also keeping a tab on him.

The Verdict:

Thuram is certainly a bright prospect and could earn a great reputation in the world of football as his father did.

With the way the 21-year-old plays, he could certainly bring some attacking flair to the Newcastle side and could potentially be an upgrade on the likes of Kenedy, who has struggled this season.

However, with a number of top-flight clubs interested in the up-and-coming star, Benitez could have a fight on his hands to bring Thuram to St. James’ Park this January.
