Newcastle keen to snatch midfielder from Premier League relegation rivals

ShelveyThe bunch of Newcastle United supporters who can regularly be found supping the tipple of their choice in the Transfer Tavern are getting fairly anxious of the club’s perilous Premier League position.

They have however been buoyed by a bit of transfer news on Sky Sports News, which was being played on the big screen television in the Tavern’s tap room. The broadcaster stated that the Magpies were in pole position to secure a £10 million swoop for Swansea City midfielder Jonjo Shelvey, much to the delight of the faithful Toon Army supporters.

One fan thinks the team desperately need a ball-player in the middle of the park and he thinks the former Liverpool man would be a perfect signing for Steve McClaren, as he looks to keep the club in the Premier League.

The departure of Shelvey would be a further blow to the Swans, who like Newcastle are desperately trying to secure their Premier League status for another season too.

Our landlord believes that Shelvey can be crucial to a side trying to avoid relegation and states the move would be beneficial to the England international too, who is actively seeking to land a spot in Roy Hodgson’s European Championship squad.

Newcastle fans… Would you welcome Shelvey to the club? Let us know in the comments below!
