There are only 10 days left in the transfer market which means some last minute deals are bound to happen and Newcastle could be a team that could be about to make one or two.

Mike Ashley has kept a tight budget this summer but if any quality players become available, the owner might want to make a few quick deals, as long as they're not high in price.

The Magpies have apparently shown an interest Chelsea's midfielder, Danny Drinkwater according to TEAMtalk.

The Breakdown

Chelsea paid £35 million for the midfielder last summer but after a tough season due to injuries, the former Premier League winner only played in 12 league games for the Blues.

With Jorginho now at Chelsea, Sarri has deemed Drinkwater suppose to requirements, and rightly so. The west London club apparently want £20 million for the midfielder but would also be happy to allow him to go out on loan.

A loan deal may be a suitable option for Newcastle, although his wage demands might be high, the Magpies should avoid any permanent transfer for the midfielder.

After playing a season without N'Golo Kante, it became clear that Drinkwater's performances were really influenced by the energetic Frenchman, although in truth, Kante makes every player better due to his work rate.

At Newcastle, there's no player who would be able to play with him. Newcastle need a defensive presence to play alongside Ki or Shelvey and Drinkwater just isn't the man.

The club should look elsewhere and walk away from any potential deal.
