Newcastle United fans in the Transfer Tavern could have already been dealt some bad news regarding a potential summer transfer target.
The Magpies will want to strengthen themselves ahead of the next campaign and will be looking to bring in a number of additions, however, reports are starting to suggest it could become difficult to bring one of their targets to St. James’ Park.
According to La Gazetta Dello Sport (via Calcio Mercato), Sampdoria are looking to increase Daniel Praet’s release clause, if not remove it completely, by offering him a new deal. The 23-year-old has impressed since he joined them from Anderlecht in 2016 and he has attracted plenty of interest across Europe, with clubs in Spain, Italy and England all monitoring the Belgium international.
The midfielder currently has a release clause of 26 million euros, however, the Serie A side believe he is worth more than that and it remains to be seen whether Newcastle will be prepared to pay anything above his current release clause.
The Newcastle locals in the Tavern will hope their club can secure a deal for the Sampdoria midfielder before he is offered a new contract, as 26 million euros could be considered a bargain for the Belgian talent. It remains to be seen whether they will make an offer for him, but they will need to act quickly if they wish to bring him to St. James’ Park next season.
