Newcastle United will be desperate to secure a European spot under Rafa Benitez this season, but it could all depend on whether they manage to conclude deals before the transfer window shuts.
The Magpies haven’t exactly enjoyed the best of summer transfer windows as they still need to iron over a couple of underlying problems in the side. Although, they appear to be making moves on the transfer front, as according to the Mail Online, Newcastle and West Brom have revived talks over loan swap of Salomon Rondon and Dwight Gayle.
Newcastle and West Brom have revived talks over the proposed loan swap of Salomon Rondon and Dwight Gayle.
Dwight Gayle played a big part in Newcastle United’s season last time out, scoring six goals in 37 appearances.
Meanwhile, Rondon netted 10 goals across all competitions but was unable to prevent the club from suffering relegation to the Championship.
So, it looks as if Newcastle United are desperate to land Salomon Rondon this summer, with Dwight Gayle seemingly heading the other way. But, going off the Magpies’ misfortunes in transfer windows gone by, you wouldn’t rule out something going wrong.
The Magpies will need to strengthen in attacking areas after last season’s poor displays at the pinnacle of the attack, so securing the services of Rondon is a must. Indeed, the Venezuelan won’t necessarily guarantee you bags of goals every campaign, but he certainly knows how to find the back of the net.
