Newcastle rule-out move for Manchester United stopper

Manchester United v Southampton - Barclays Premier LeagueNewcastle United fans are not pleased with the latest news emerging from the Transfer Tavern, as an ideal signing appears to be off the cards.

The Magpies followers were hopeful that Newcastle would secure Victor Valdes from Manchester United as a replacement for the injured Tim Krul, who is out for the season, but the Newcastle Chronicle stated a move for the former Barcelona ace would not take place.

Valdes has been at Old Trafford since January but has struggled to make a positive impression, with the Spaniard instead catching the headlines for a high-profile fall-out with boss Louis Van Gaal; which saw him ousted from the first-team frame.

However, a move to Tyneside is off the cards as Newcastle have a full 25-man squad; with Premier League rules indicating that a player must be released if Valdes was to move to St James’ Park.

Valdes’ agent has confirmed his client will leave United in January but, unfortunately for our Geordie punters, he won’t be coming to the North East.

Newcastle United fans, would Victor Valdes have been the ideal goalkeeping recruit? Let us know in the comments below!
