Newcastle United finally got their first win of the Premier League season last weekend when they defeated Watford.
Rafa Benitez’s side have managed to escape the bottom three, however, they know they will need to improve on scoring goals if they are to have any chance of climbing further away from the drop.
And, according to reports in Italy, it is understood that the Magpies have a striker on their radar to try and increase their efforts in attack.
The 27-year-old has only made two starts in the ten matches he has been involved with, however, he was not even used as a substitute in four of those games.
The £3.6million-rated striker (per Transfermarkt) does have a decent goalscoring record though, which has also attracted interest from Sampdoria.
Newcastle certainly need to find someone that can hit the back of the net on a regular basis and Destro could be that man.
Although he has struggled recently, a record of 25 goals in his 93 games for Bologna and 29 strikes in 68 appearances for AS Roma prior to that move does suggest he could be the man to do that (per Transfermatkt).
A move to the Premier League could be what Destro needs to refresh his career, however, with interest from Sampdoria as well, he could look to remain in the Serie A, where he has spent his whole career.
