Newcastle United

Newcastle should add this £5.95m-rated playmaker to their ranks for the 17/18 season

Newcastle United ended the Championship season on a high note, snatching the title away from Brighton in the final few minutes of play thanks to a helping hand from Jack Grealish and Aston Villa.

The Toon Army have been in a celebratory mood ever since, flooding into the Tavern in their droves and nearly drinking our landlord’s supplies dry as they have partied away.

However, once things settled down, our landlord got to chatting to a few of the regular Newcastle fans who have been frequenting the premises all year, and talk soon turned to next year and who the club should be looking to sign to ensure Premier League survival.

One name who everyone agreed on was Fulham star Tom Cairney, who has been simply superb for the Cottagers this year.

Cairney has provided goals and assists in abundance, and valued at £5.95m by website Transfermarkt, he could be the ideal signing to take Newcastle to the next level.

His ability on the ball to create and drive at defences make him an excellent prospect for the Premier League, and at just 26, he has his prime years in front of him yet.

The time could well be right for Cairney to make a move to the North East and sample the top flight – that is of course if Fulham do not make it themselves – and he has the potential to be a star for the Toon.

Newcastle fans, what do you think? Would Cairney be a good signing? Let us know in the comments!
