Newcastle should go all out to bring £12.6m-rated Barcelona outcast back to England

Newcastle fans in the Tavern are still furious after they were beaten by bottom of the league West Brom at home on Saturday.

The result leaves Newcastle in 10th on the Premier League table – a massive 13 points behind Burnley in the European places. The loss against the Baggies again highlights the need for Mike Ashley to give Rafael Benitez some transfer funds in the summer transfer window.

While Newcastle lumbered to defeat, Barcelona secured their 25th Spanish league title with a 4-2 demolition away at Deportivo with Lionel Messi grabbing a hat-trick. Despite playing in ten games after returning to the club, Gerard Deulofeu’s name was missing from the commemorative t-shirt.

The Spaniard returned in the summer but later joined Watford on loan. Nevertheless, he did play a part in the title victory and vented his frustration on Twitter. Other players such as Rafinha, who did not play a minute of football, were featured on the shirt.

It could put his future at the club in doubt with Barcelona set to strengthen heavily in the summer – Deulofeu could find himself looking for a new club again. He is valued at £12.6m by Transfermarkt and would be linked with a host of Premier League clubs.

The 24-year-old could be the perfect signing for the Magpies who need to inject some pace into the side. Deulofeu has made four appearances for Watford this season, scoring one goal and registering one assist.

The former Everton winger can play on either wing but is yet to realise his huge potential. St. James Park could be the ideal location and Benitez could be the man to get the best out of him.

Newcastle fans, would Gerard Deulofeu be a worthwhile summer signing? Let us know!
