Rafa Benitez needs some new players if he wants to have a chance of surviving in the Premier League next season.

So far in the transfer window, the Spaniard hasn't really been backed by Mike Ashley. The well known frugal owner, has informed Benitez that the club must "wheel and deal" if they are to sign any new players this summer. So far they have brought in three players, while only spending £3.6 million.

Newcastle need a creative player who can play in a midfield two but can also join in attacks going forward. A player who Newcastle should target is Everton's midfielder Davy Klaassen.

The former Ajax man is apparently a target for Werder Bremen according to German paper Deich Stube.

Part of the impressive Ajax squad that reached the Europa League Final two seasons ago, Klassen's career in England hasn't exactly been outstanding. The Dutch midfielder only managed seven appearances in the league last year and looks like his Everton career may be over.

With Newcastle lacking adequate numbers in midfield, Klaassen would be a cheap option for Benitez to bring in. With Matt Ritchie on the wing, the Magpies don't really have a player to play as a 10 to orchestrate attacks and play players into space.

It's a deal that the fans may not like initially but as he's available on a relatively small fee, it might just be a deal that Mike Ashley will be interested in.

So Newcastle fans, what do you think?
