Newcastle have made a decent start to life back in the Premier League and look fully capable of holding their own and staying in the division come the end of the season.
Manager Rafa Benitez is a safe bet when it comes to keeping a team solid and picking up results, and the Toon Army are more than happy at having the Spaniard in charge as the season enters the crucial winter period.
Our landlord here at the Tavern has been enjoying a good beer or two with the Geordies this week, and talk has indeed turned once again to transfers, and who the club should look to pick up during the January window.
One player whose name has been mentioned a fair bit this week is current Manchester City attacking midfield starlet Oleksandr Zinchenko, who has just started to feature for City in the cup competitions and on the bench.
However, a run at first team football is what Zinchenko really needs, and the chance to go and play in front of 50,000 at St James Park each week could be the perfect sort of move for a player who is renowned for having bags of natural ability.
As an attacking midfielder, he is confident, pacey, and has the eye for both a goal and a key pass, something which Newcastle could well do with adding to their squad at the moment.
There’s little doubt Zinchenko can shine given the chance, and while City would miss him for this season, the entire move would be of benefit to both City and Newcastle should a deal be pushed through.
