Newcastle will be looking forward to being back in the Premier League and among the elite in England again following their Championship success last season.
Manager Rafa Benitez has the club looking like it’s on a bit of a roll, and it would be no surprise to see them in and around the top half of the table come the end of May 2018.
The Toon Army here in the Tavern are themselves in a confident mood, and they have been chatting with our landlord this week about the summer transfer window and who the club should look to bring in.
One player who popped up in conversation over by the pool table this week is former midfielder Moussa Sissoko, who was sold to Spurs last year for £30m.
His debut season in London though has not gone to plan, and there are plenty of whispers in the press that he could well be on his way out, and a move back to the North East could be the making of him once more.
Sissoko will have a point to prove, and will want to get minutes under his belt as he hopes to seal a place in the France squad for Russia 2018. Signing back on for the Toon could well be a positive move, and there is no way that Newcastle will have to pay the £3om they originally sold him for.
This move could divide opinion, but Sissoko is certainly a player who can add quality to the Newcastle ranks.
