With Newcastle preparing for life back in the Premier League, their manager Rafa Benitez will no doubt have expected to have a busier summer than he has done so far in terms of adding players.
The Spaniard will have been hoping to add some top players to the ranks at St James, but so far it has not been the case, and the Toon Army here in the Tavern have become a little bit restless.
Our landlord though thinks the club will still land some big players before the window shuts, and one player he thinks the club should look to make a move for is current Arsenal and England man Theo Walcott.
The pacey forward has long been a regular in the Premier League but has often failed to cement a regular place in the Gunners squad, meaning life can be frustrating for the former Southampton man at times.
However, the chance to resurrect his career and become a big name at Newcastle could be the ideal opportunity for Walcott. He would get the chance to become one of the big players for the Toon, and it might well give him the chance to play regular football and bang in the goals on a consistent basis.
Walcott is a player who has always had bags of pace and potential, but he doesn’t quite seem to have hit the heights many expected of him, and a move to the North East might well be the making of him as he heads into the later stages of his career.
