Newcastle United fans in the Transfer Tavern after the Magpies ended the season in style with a 3-0 win over Chelsea.
Rafael Benitez signed off on a successful campaign in the best possible way with a win over his former club. Given the lack of resources on Tyneside, a 10th place finish in the Premier League is very respectable following their promotion from the Championship. Now, Newcastle fans can be optimistic.
Despite the club being up for sale, owner Mike Ashley has promised Benitez ‘every penny the club makes’ to strengthen the squad when the window reopens. Ashley was also pleased with their achievements over the season and gave the Spaniard his full backing to guide the club back to Europe.
With the right investments, the Magpies are capable of competing for a place in Europe next year. One man to help them on their quest should be PSV Eindhoven winger – Hirving Lozano – who has been one of the best players in the Eredivisie this season. Scoring 19 goals and notching 11 assists, the winger must move on to bigger things.
Lozano is blessed with tremendous pace and the skills to match – averaging 2.11 successful take ons per game according to Squawka. The Mexican winger is a creative genius, creating 2.67 chances and playing 2.37 key passes per game. He is valued at £19.8m according to Transfermarkt.
If Benitez can add a top striker to the forward line, alongside Lozano, they would be a force to be reckoned with.
