Newcastle striker urges players to show passion

Aleksander MitrovicNewcastle United striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has urged his team mates to show passion in this week’s game at Manchester City.

The Serbian’s comments have pleased even the die hard Newcastle fans here in the Transfer Tavern and they hope that this determination can help turn their season around.

Mitrovic arrived in England with a reputation of being a bit of a hot-head and justified this by being sent off in his fourth game against Arsenal. The Mirror reports that Mitrovic wants his colleagues to show ‘passion’ and ‘aggression’ at the Etihad on Saturday in a bid to win their first game of the season.

The 21-year old forward also suggests that Premier League defenders try and ‘kick you the whole game’ but he is confident that he can perform to his best and not retaliate letting his goals do the talking.

“It’s very difficult when you get a lot of kicks from defenders, but you have to stay calm and think about how to score goals.

“They kick you all game, but that is my position and I have to deal with it. I need to keep working on the mental side of things, but I have shown I can deal with all of that.

Pressure is already building on Newcastle and manager Steve McClaren as they sit in nineteenth place with only three points. The Magpies threw a two goal lead away last weekend to draw 2-2 with Chelsea but the performance was much improved from that of previous weeks.

Newcastle fans, do you agree with Mitrovic’s comments? Does the team need to show more passion? Let us know in the comments!
