It’s been a superb 12 months for Newcastle United and manager Rafa Benitez as they secured automatic promotion back to the Premier League at the first attempt.
The Magpies flew to the top of the table after a tough start in the second-tier and widely stayed there throughout the campaign, meaning Premier League football will remain in the North East next season.
And the Geordies will be looking to remain in the top flight this time out, with Benitez expected to add heavily to his ranks over the coming months to ensure his team have enough in the tank to avoid an automatic return to the second-tier.
And one man that could be on the move is Liverpool striker Danny Ings, who, according to the Sun, is being lined up by Benitez to improve the striking ranks at St James Park.
The former Burnley man has endured a torrid couple of years through injury and with Liverpool having moved on significantly since his signing, he’s expected to make a move away from Anfield this summer.
He’s a pacy striker who has a real eye for goal but after being injured for so long, he needs regular match action to get back to his best- something Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is unlikely to offer him.
Newcastle fans- would Ings be a good addition to the squad? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
