Newcastle United plotting surprise swoop for Arsenal defender

Debuchy.jpgNewcastle United fans haven’t had too much to smile about recently but the punters in the bar are beaming from ear-to-ear with reports that a fan favourite could be on his way back to Tyneside.

The Daily Star says Newcastle are contemplating a move to bring Mathieu Debuchy back to the club, just 18 months after he left for Arsenal, as the French defender has found first-team football extremely limited in North London.

Debuchy’s first season at the Emirates was plagued by injury and his absence allowed Hector Bellerin to enjoy a meteoric rise to the first-team; and he shows no signs of giving up his spot anytime soon.

With Debuchy facing the possibility of missing France’s European Championships next summer, as he was dropped from the latest squad for the international break this week, the Frenchman is considering a January exit.

Newcastle fans at the bar say they’d welcome Debuchy back with open arms as they believe their squad is in desperate need of experienced winners, with the Magpies yet to win a game this term.

Newcastle fans, would you like to see Debuchy back on Tyneside? Should Arsenal let him go? Let us know in the comments below!
