Newcastle United will head to the St Mary’s Stadium and face Southampton on Saturday in the Premier League.
The Magpies will be looking for their first win of the season in the competition and the game against the Saints could be the perfect opportunity.
The hosts are not in the best form either and have struggled to find the back of the net themselves, with both sides having netted just six times each.
However, it appears that Newcastle could have been handed a timely boost ahead of the long trip to the south coast.
“Rondon is available, he’s in the squad. Everyone is available apart from (Florian) Lejeune and (Jamie) Sterry,” Rafa Benitez said.
“You can see that we signed (Rondon) as a main striker. We were missing him for games. When he played against Crystal Palace, he was injured and it was a pity. Now he’s fit, hopefully he can stay fit for a while and at least increase the competition between the offensive players – that is something that is good for any team.”
The imminent return of Salomon Rondon is hugely positive news for Newcastle as they head to the south coast.
The Magpies are desperate for the three points and will be hopeful the Venezuela international attacker can help them get firing.
Although he is yet to open his account in the Premier League, the West Bromwich Albion loanee’s absence has clearly been felt and Newcastle will be glad to have him back available.
