The Newcastle United fans in The Transfer Tavern are gathered around the jukebox discussing reports that the club have decided against signing a striker they were reportedly interested in.
The Chronicle is reporting that the North East side are to abandon any thoughts of signing want away West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino.
Newcastle have decided to look elsewhere in their search after West Bromwich Albion chairman Jeremy Peace revealed that he was looking to keep the striker at The Hawthorns until the summer.
The news will not please Berahino especially as Newcastle were willing to pay what West Brom wanted for the striker and with tension already between player and chairman due to a failed move to Tottenham in the summer it will not make their relationship any better.
It is now thought that the struggling Premier League side will turn their attention to Chelsea striker Loic Remy as they aim to achieve Premier League safety come May.
As for the Newcastle fans in The Tavern they are fully behind their club’s decision to pull out of any deal and encourage them to get a striker in as soon as they possibly can.
