Newcastle United fans share the same fear as their manager in the Football Transfer Tavern after the Daily Mail revealed Alan Pardew’s feelings on the topic of Moussa Sissoko being tempted into an Arsenal or Chelsea move.
The two London clubs are keeping tabs on the player and Pardew has admitted to being wary of the fact he could exit St. James’ Park in January.
It is well known in the tavern that Arsenal are seeking players to bolster their midfield and they are keen on the physical French international.
This speculation has led to the Magpies wanting to offer the 25-year-old a fresh deal as quickly as possible to end any speculation of him leaving the club.
Transfer news of this type will not be new to Magpies fans after previously seeing fellow French players Yohan Cabaye and Mathieu Debuchy flee the club in search of Champions League football.
“We have not had contact from anybody else or heard from anybody else, but I take the point (he could be a target for others),” said Pardew.
“He is playing for a club where big clubs have come before and taken players away. I understand that so therefore, I guess, he is a player they will be looking at.
“That’s all I can say because he has been terrific for us.”
